5 Tips for Developing Sales Confidence in Your Business

by admin Leave a Comment

5 tips for developing sales confidenceI’ve been in sales for over 20 years and during that time, I’ve had to overcome a lack of self confidence and deal with many limiting beliefs in order to succeed.  One thing I can tell you above all else is that sales success has much more to do with what is going on in your mind rather than the actual mechanics of selling.

You can have the perfect sales script that has helped countless others sell thousands of dollars worth of products and services but…if your throat tightens up the minute you open your mouth and you get all awkward and uncomfortable in your delivery due to lack of confidence, you’re going to lose the sale.    So, below I’ve outlined 5 tips for developing sales confidence in your business so that you can close more sales.

1. Release Negative Beliefs about Sales

I remember attending a sales training conference about 15 years ago where the trainer played a word association game with us. He would give us a word like “puppy” and most of us would say something like “soft” or “love” and then he would say “pizza” and we would respond “hungry”, “delicious” or whatever. You get the idea.

Then after several more word associations, he said “sales rep” and to my astonishment, the first word that came to mind was “sleazball”.
I was amazed to learn that program like that was running in the background of my mind.

Can you guess what kind of impact that was having on my sales results? Yep…my sales results at the time were reflecting this negative programming in the background of my mind.

If success in your business requires one on one sales conversations, then you need to identify the negative attitudes you have towards selling and let go of them.

We’ve all had negative experiences with pushy sales people and sales is NOT about arm wrestling a prospect into buying your product or services. It has far more to do with your energy and enthusiasm and your ability to convey how your services solve a problem for people.

So think of positive sales experiences you’ve had being a customer or in the sales role and focus your thoughts on those.  In fact think of buying situations, situations where you’ve made a buying decision with a salesperson that felt good and you will have a much better example of how a sales conversation should feel.

2. Develop a Strong Positive Self Image

If your business requires selling one on one services or coaching packages, know your value and what results you can bring to your client, whether that’s helping them to create a sales funnel that converts or helping them to achieve their income goals. Knowing the value you can bring and the problem you can solve for clients helps to develop a strong positive self image.

You probably have lots of skills and ways you can help clients but by developing a clear message that communicates how you can help solve a client’s most pressing problem will not only help you close more sales but also, boost your self confidence.

If you’re new to coaching, you probably have some degree “imposter syndrome” going on. Over time, you will develop more confidence as you put yourself out there more and more and have more sales conversations.

See yourself as an expert NOW and focus on what you bring to the table rather than worrying about whether you can deliver the results you’re offering. Again, you’ve probably got skills that someone else is willing to hire you for and that makes you an expert in their eyes.

3. Visualize a Successful Outcome

Visualizing success is very powerful and has been proven time and time again, especially in the world of sports to produce results. Visualization helps you to build confidence in yourself in a sales situation because it elevates your level of belief in being able to achieve your goals.

If your business requires selling one on one services or coaching packages then before having a sales conversation, picture the outcome you want otherwise, your thoughts will likely turn to the outcome you don’t want….no sale.

This doesn’t guarantee that you’ll close the sale but…it will help you to feel more confident and relaxed during the process.  And, if you’ve had some sales already, all the better.  Recall those experiences and get into how good it felt before you get on your next sales call.

4. Remember that Selling is a Numbers Game

If your business requires selling one on one services or coaching packages, not everyone is going to be ready for your services no matter how good you are at sales. There is no sales person in history who has a 100% close ratio.

So, you are going to get rejected from time to time. Accept it and don’t allow yourself to get shattered when someone says “no” to you. They aren’t rejecting you, they are simply rejecting the result you offer for the time being.

Maybe it’s not a fit for their business or, they themselves lack confidence and don’t feel like they can step up to the plate and do their part. If you get a “no” and feel that you could have handled an objection better, figure out how you will address that type of objection the next time and move on.

And, remember that every “no” you get is getting you closer to the next “yes”.

5. Let Go of the NEED for the Sale

If your business requires selling one on one services or coaching packages, let go of the need for the sale. When we’re attached to the need for the sale because we have bills to pay or an aggressive sales goal that we are trying to meet, we put a lot of pressure on ourselves.

It often backfires when we feel pressure to close a sale because our prospect can sense our neediness. So, let it go. Focus your thoughts on serving your prospective clients and trust the process. If you get a “no” remember that it’s just leading you closer to the next “yes”.

Make sure that your sales process is set up to constantly bring in new prospects so that you will soon have another opportunity for a sales conversation. Keep putting offers out there and relax. It might feel like the wolf is at the door so to speak but if you relax about the situation, things often have a funny way of working out because…the Universe has your back!

Tapping on the Belief that I can’t Make MONEY Doing What I LOVE

by admin Leave a Comment

In today’s video I wanted to address a negative limiting belief that holds a lot of female entrepreneurs back, and that’s the belief that “I can’t make money doing what I love”. So, of course if you have an emotional response to this belief it is going to drive your behaviour, and of course hold success at bay for you.

This belief can stem from being told as a child that it was selfish to want more. Or this belief can stem from hearing your parents complaining about their jobs but not doing anything to change their situation. As a child, you might have developed an unconscious belief that making money has to be hard and not a lot of fun.

So, let’s see if we can use some EFT tapping to tap out any emotions associated with this belief, which should collapse it for you, and then hopefully open things up so that you can have the success that you desire.

Starting at the karate chop point…

Even though I have this belief that I can’t make money doing what I love, I deeply and completely accept myself.

Even though I have this belief that it’s not possible for me to make money doing what I love, I deeply and completely accept myself and I’m open to letting this belief go.

Even though I have the belief that I can’t make money doing what I love, I can see that this is a false belief and I’m open to letting it go and all of the emotions that are tied to it.

I can’t make money doing what I love. I have this belief that I can’t make money doing what I love. I know it’s a limiting belief, but it keeps coming up and it’s time to let it go. I’m open to letting go of this belief, this negative limiting belief that I can’t make money doing what I love. There’s lots of people out there making lots of money doing what they love and I can, too. I can make money doing what I love.

I’m open to installing this new belief. I have my own gifts and talents and I’m as special as the next person. That may be hard for me to accept right now, but I’m open to that idea. I’m open to the idea that I have my own gifts and talents and that I can make money doing what I love just like so many other people. A lot of it has to do with attitude. Loving what you do and doing what you love. So, I’m open to this new paradigm, this paradigm where I earn money doing what I love, whether I’m in a job or in a business, I can make money doing what I love.

I’m open to this new belief. It’s been something that’s plagued me in the past, but I’m open to adopting this new belief now that I can make money doing what I love. Lots of people do it, and I can, too. I’m open to adopting this new belief that I can make money doing what I love, just like thousands of other people out there. I choose to love what I do and do what I love. I’m accepting this new belief that I can make money doing what I love, and love what I do.

Okay, take a deep breath and let it out….

I hope you enjoyed this video today. Have a wonderful day and we’ll see you next time.

Tapping on the Belief that You have to Be PERFECT to Be Successful

by admin Leave a Comment

In today’s video, I wanted to address a common belief that sabotages the success of many female entrepreneurs, and that is the belief that I have to be perfect before I can be successful. This belief can show up in many forms, including, “Oh, I have to lose another 10 pounds before I can be successful and launch my business”. Or, “I have to make sure my website is perfect”. “I have to ensure that my website copy is perfect,” and all of that stuff isn’t true.

Believe me, I have seen people from all sorts of backgrounds become successful and I’ve seen people with crappy websites become successful and many successful people with mistakes in their copy. Maybe it’s powerful copy, but they have spelling mistakes or some sentences that don’t make sense, and that’s okay. They’re still a success, so don’t get hung up on those things, and so what I wanted to do today is take you through some tapping to let go of that story so that you can move forward and step into your dream life and have the success in your business that you desire.

Starting at the karate chop point…

Even though I have this belief that I have to be perfect before I can be successful, I deeply and completely accept myself.

Even though I have this belief that I have to be perfect, that I have to have the perfect website, the perfect website copy, the perfect lead magnet, the perfect business plan, the perfect body, whatever it is, this belief that I have to be perfect before I can achieve success, I’m open to letting it go now.

Even though I have this belief that everything has to be perfect, and maybe that’s because I’ve got some fear of criticism, I’m choosing to let all of this go now so that I can step into the success I desire.

This need to be perfect, I’m open to letting it go. It’s just a story. It’s a story I’m telling myself. It’s an excuse that I’m giving myself for not doing what I know will bring me to success I desire, and I’m open to letting that all go. This belief that I have to be perfect, it’s just a story, and maybe it stems from fear about putting myself out there and about potential criticism I might get.

Because the Internet can be a mean place sometimes and I don’t want to set myself up to be criticized, so I have to be perfect before I can put myself out there. I have this vow to be perfect. I can’t make mistakes. It’s so embarrassing to make mistakes especially in a public forum like the Internet, but I’m choosing to release this fear and I’m open to allowing myself to be imperfect and still succeed. I can be imperfect and still succeed.

I’m open to being imperfect and loving myself anyways. I’m going to forgive myself pre-emptively for being imperfect. I’m holding myself to a high standard that I don’t hold for anyone else, and so I’m choosing to let go of this story, this belief that I have to be perfect.

It’s okay to be imperfect. I’m open to embracing my imperfection. There’s lots of successful people out there who are imperfect, so I’m choosing to let all this go, this need to be perfect before I can step out and be visible and achieve the success I desire. I’m letting go of this need to be perfect.

It’s okay to be imperfect. I’m choosing to love and accept myself anyways even if I’m imperfect, even if I make mistakes, even if I get criticized. It’s okay to be imperfect. I’m allowing myself to be imperfect and to let go of all those fears around that. I’m open to letting this all go and embracing my imperfection.

It’s okay to be imperfect. Other successful people are imperfect, so maybe that’s the key to success. I choose to embrace my imperfection and let go of anything that’s holding me back.

Okay, so take a deep breath and let it out….

Thanks very much for watching. I hope you found this video helpful, and we’ll see you next time.

How to Become a Better Receiver of Money

by admin Leave a Comment

Tapping to Become a Better Receiver of

Your GOOD

tapping to become a better receiver of moneyIn today’s video I wanted to talk to you about becoming a better receiver. If you have found that in the past you have a tendency to reject compliments from others or, if somebody has offered to do something for you, perhaps free of charge like maybe buy a coffee for you and you have the tendency to say, “no, no, no I’ll get it myself” rather than something like, “Thank you, I’ll get you next time” then today’s video is for you.

If somebody pays you a compliment and you find that you say things like, “Oh this outfit it’s an old outfit” rather than saying, “Thank you” and perhaps returning the gesture and giving them a compliment, then you might also be blocking your ability to receive more money or abundance in other ways because you tend to keep pushing it away.

The universe is an abundant place and it is demonstrating that to you on a regular basis, especially when you start delving into this kind of work so that if you keep pushing it away you’ll keep it at bay.

The universe will get mixed messages and think that it’s not in fact something that you want, even if you are tapping for more money or doing money affirmations or what have you.

The other way that the inability to receive can show up is if you undervalue your products or services. Maybe you’re a coach like me and you’re practically giving away your coaching services for free. It all comes down to not valuing your gifts and talents as much as you should.

Let’s tap on this and see if we can get you into a space where you’re more open to receiving and you begin to feel more comfortable with it so that you stop pushing away those opportunities and those signs from the universe that are telling you that is an abundant place.

Starting on the karate chop point…

Even though I have a hard time receiving I choose to accept myself.

Even though I recognize that I have a hard time receiving whether that’s compliments, gifts or money for my services, I choose to accept myself anyway.

Even though I can see that there’s times when I have a hard time receiving what the universe is trying to send me, I’m choosing to change this pattern now and recognize my worth and the abundance that’s available to me from the universe.

I have a hard time receiving.
I can see that in the past I’ve had a hard time receiving.
I reject compliments.
I reject free gifts that are random.
Maybe I also price my products and services lower than they should be and I have a hard time receiving.
I’m choosing to release this pattern now so that I can begin receiving and maybe it all comes down to feeling uncomfortable with my value.
Maybe there’s a part of me that doesn’t feel good enough and so when somebody compliments me or offers me a gift I tend to push it away.
I reject it because it doesn’t match with my self image.

I’m choosing to change this tendency now because I am valued and I do provide value. I’m going to be open to receiving now.
I’m feeling grateful for any gifts that are sent my way whether that’s in the form of compliments or free coffees or being paid well for what I do.
I’m choosing to open myself up to more abundance.
I’m choosing to feel more comfortable with more abundance, with compliments, free gifts and more money for my goods and services.
I am deserving.
I am valued and I have gifts and talents.
I’m open to receiving now.
I’m choosing to be more open to receiving now and allowing the abundance of the universe to flow in and bless my life.

Take a deep breath….

You might have a bit of yawning after doing this tapping round. It’s a good thing. It means that the energy is moving. Keep tapping through this video a couple of times to release some more layers of resistance towards receiving.

Thank you very much for visiting and have a terrific day!

Clear the Belief that People Who Sell Stuff are Dishonest, Sleazy, Crooked

by admin Leave a Comment

Tapping on the Belief that People Who Sell Stuff are Dishonest, Sleazy, Crooked

eft tapping to clear the belief that selling stuff is dishonestIf you are an entrepreneur who sells stuff online (whether that be goods or services) or face to face, you might find yourself having a hard time with “asking for the sale”.

Or, perhaps you undervalue your offering and price it way below where it should be. And it might be because you have an underlying/unconscious belief that salespeople are dishonest, sleazy or crooked.

This belief probably came from a negative interaction with a salesperson in the past who was pushing stuff on you that you really didn’t want or perhaps your parents had a negative attitude about selling stuff that they passed on to you.

If this you, you are not the only one. Many people feel the same way and in fact, years ago I attended a sales training conference (and by the way, I’ve been in sales for many, many years) and we played a word association game during the training and the facilitator would shout out a word and we would have to respond with the first word that came
to mind.

So, it went something like this…

Facilitator: puppy
Me: love
Facilitator: McDonald’s
Me: hungry
This type of thing went on for several minutes and then…

Facilitator: salespeople
Me: sleazy, scumbag

I was shocked, here I was in a sales career and that was the first thing that came to my mind. Thankfully the rest of the training consisted of releasing this unconscious belief. And, I’m happy to report that the releasing exercises definitely made a difference in my confidence and in my income.

The truth is that you can sell stuff from a place of service and truly provide value to people who are looking for what you have to offer.

But, if you don’t work on releasing the belief that salespeople are sleazy, your income will suffer. So even if you don’t think this is an underlying belief of yours, this tapping sequence will be helpful.

Watch today’s video below or tap along using the script below so that you will not be held back in earning what you deserve doing what you love.

Starting at the karate chop point…

Even though I have this belief that people who sell stuff are dishonest and sleazy and I don’t want to be associated with that, I deeply and completely accept myself.

Even though I have this belief that selling stuff either online or face to face is somehow dishonest and it makes me uncomfortable, I can see how this isn’t serving me in attaining the success I desire and I’m choosing to release this belief now.

Even though I have this belief that selling stuff is dishonest and maybe sleazy and I have trouble asking for what I deserve, I choose to let this go and recognize that I do have gifts and talents to share that have value and that people are willing to pay for.

This belief that people who sell stuff are dishonest
I have this negative limiting belief
That people who sell stuff are dishonest
It’s holding me back
And I’m ready to let it go
I’m ready to let go of this belief
This belief that people who sell stuff are sleazy

It doesn’t serve me
And it keeps me from being the best I can be
So I’m choosing to let it go
I can offer services and products that are of value to others
And be well paid
I’m choosing to value what I have to offer

And to present myself as kind and friendly
I can be kind and honest
While selling stuff
I can be the sort of salesperson
Who is kind and honest
There’s more than one way to skin a cat

Yes there are salespeople who are super agressive
They say whatever they need to to get the sale
And they do very well financially
But that’s not me
I’m choosing to do very well financially
Offering value
And being kind and honest

I can be a success being myself
Being kind and honest
My products and services are valued
And so I’m choosing to release this belief
I’m choosing to release this belief that you need to be sleazy of dishonest to sell stuff
Rarely have I come across anyone like that
Truth be told, those types of people are few and far between

And their success is usually fleeting
So, I’m choosing to release this belief
And accepting now that the best way to sell stuff
Is with a goal of serving others
With kindness and honesty
I’m choosing my own path to success

Take a deep breath and hoping you found this video helpful.
